North Bank best for Doggetts anglers
WITH the cold nights and strong easterly winds the carp fishing has been quite a struggle this week at Rochford's Doggetts fishery.
All the better fish were landed from the North Bank, except for a 14lb mirror landed by junior Kirt Pottle from the Long Arm.
Lewis Clark was very unlucky to loose an excellent mirror in a tight swim, but was finally rewarded with a very pretty 18lb common plus some good tench.
The same swim later produced a 21lb mirror for Perry Bellott, whose brother Ross also landed a a 16lb specimen, all from the North Bank.
Seeing the action all taking place on the north side, Dave Collins was pleased he swapped swims as he immediately landed some good tench and a 16lb common.
Also fishing the North Bank was Dave Rose from Eastwood, who enjoyed a 24-hour session and landed three double-figured mirrors plus an 18lb common.
Despite the lack of carp from the arms, some very respectable bags of tench and silver fish have been landed from the back pool.
The best tench weighed in at 6lb 4oz and red maggot proved the best bait.
The pike are still very visible while spawning and most anglers are still enjoying sport with dead baits.
