Byatt goes carp crazy
GLOUCESTER Park regular Geoff Byatt took a bumper 27 carp haul when he fished a session at the eastern end of the cockle bank.
Byatt alternated between heavy waggler and quivertip tactics to take fish throughout his session at the Basildon water.
His catch, which included fish to just over 12lb, fell to white chocolate mini boilies presented three quarters of the way across the lake.
Simon Allen fished the centre of the Gloucester Park cockle bank to land 19 carp to a best of 18lb 6oz.
All of the carp fell to Allen's own homemade mini boilies fished tight to the island on a snowman rig.
Pole angler Gary Fowler lost two big carp when he fished the cockle bank, but finished his day with more than 50lb of bream and big roach.
Fowler fed two lines, one at 14 metres with pellet for the bream, and another at seven metres with caster for the roach.
Alternating between the two lines he kept the fish interested all day, and was still getting a bite every put in when he had to leave.
