ESSEX Leopards’ forward Carl Josey is hoping to help his side record two triumphs this weekend.

Leopards start the defence of their Division One title at Worthing Thunder tomorrow night before hosting London Lituanica in the third round of the National Cup at the Brentwood Centre the following day.

And Josey is keen to build on last Saturday’s win over Hemel Storm, which Josey felt saw the side begin to hit top form.

"I thought the Hemel game showed glimpses of our true potential this season and we want to build on that this weekend now," said Josey.

"The fact that we were mature enough so early on to create a big lead and maintain it was very pleasing.

“It was a great team effort from everybody and when we play with that type of effort and unselfishness it makes life quiet easy on the basketball court."

Josey is now chasing more of the same in Leopards’ next two games, which come in quick succession.

And he feels that makes it a massive weekend for his side. "

This coming weekend is another big one because we have to take care of business in our cup game as it's a one off game,” said Josey.

“We need to be focused and ready to play regardless of who we are playing.

"We also have Worthing to start off our league campaign and I doubt that will be an easy game either but it's important to get a good start in the league."

Prior to Sunday’s game, which starts at 4pm, Leopards will also be offering pre-game coaching to young fans aged between 18 and 16.

The youngsters will have the chance learn all about the game from one of the club’s American players in a one hour session starting at 2pm.

Each fan will receive one hour of coaching, a water bottle, a picture with the player and a ticket for the game for just £8.

Places can be booked by calling 07828 470015 or mailing leopardsgm@hotmail.com.
