IT’S been a fantastic week for us so far and it’s been great to see the team in such fantastic form.

To score four goals in two games running away from home at Torquay and AFC Wimbledon really takes some going.

And the lads deserve real credit for what they achieved.

I read in the week it’s the fact time we have scored four goals in successive away league games since 1907 and I think that shows just how well things have gone.

The aim is to now keep that going when we take on Rochdale at Roots Hall on Saturday but they’re also having a very good season.

They’ve been in the play-off positions for quite some time but we’ve now also worked ourselves in to contention.

In fact, not only have we closed the gap on the top seven but we’re now also quite close to the top three teams in the automatic promotion places and that has given us a real boost.

We now want to keep the run going but we will need to be patient this weekend.

Just because we have scored eight goals in two games it doesn’t mean we are going to get another four goals against Rochdale as well and it could take some time to make a breakthrough.

We need to be aware of that and so do the fans because it’s important we remain relaxed if we are start to improving our home form.

The last few results there in the league haven’t been the best but confidence is sky high at the moment.

Gavin Tomlin is a fantastic example of that and I’m delighted to see him getting among the goals.

He’s now hit the back of the net five times in his last four games and is showing the quality we always knew he had.

I think Gav has been fantastic for us this season and the fact he’s now getting the rewards for his hard work is brilliant.

At the other end of the field, Ryan Cresswell and Mark Phillips were both superb against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night because we really had to dig in during the opening half an hour.

Wimbledon started well and were on top early on but the fact we had to work so hard before running out winners made the victory even more satisfying.

STEER CLEAR OF OUR RYAN

IT’S been a bad few days for poor old Ryan Leonard.

Not only has he picked up a slight glute problem which has forced him out of action but he somehow managed to drive his car in to a member of the coaching staff at the training ground.

Being a youngster, his insurance is probably sky high so I’m it must have been a nightmare for him.

But I’ve heard he is spending plenty of time on his laptop trying to find the best deal he can!
