Southend United's Neil Harris: We're playing the best football in the league

I'VE watched plenty of sides in League Two this season and I don't think I've seen anyone play the type of football we are at this moment in time.

Saturday's win against Rochdale was another well deserved three points and some of the stuff we produced was just fantastic.

We have strikers in brilliant form and we're looking a very good team right now.

If we can keep people fit and keep the loan players for as long as possible then I really do feel the sky's the limit for this side.

We won't get carried away about anything but this squad is far happier, stronger and more settled than last season and we want to keep this run we're on going as we get closer to the Christmas period.

This weekend, we face a change of competition as we head to Bury in the second round of the FA Cup.

The league remains our priority but it would be nice to have a good cup run alongside that and reach the draw for the third round.

Bury are in the league above us and we will certainly respect them.

But the form we're in at the moment levels things up and we're looking forward to playing against them.

The following Tuesday we take on another good League One side in Brentford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and it's a chance for everyone to show we're able to mix it with sides from a level we hope to be in ourselves next season.

Training has gone well this week and the lads showed a fantastic attitude to make it to Boots & Laces in difficult travelling conditions.

Some of the players left home at 7am and didn't get to Southend until midday.

In the past and, at others clubs I've been at, people would've given up and gone home.

But everyone kept at it to get in and I thought that was fantastic.

Training looked great fun in the wet conditions too and there were plenty of Jurgen Klinsmann dives going on to celebrate any goal that was scored.

Elliot Benyon took things a step further and found the biggest and muddiest puddle to dive in which certainly gave the rest of the lads plenty to laugh about!

I'M walking around on crutches at the moment with my foot in a protective boot but it's just a precautionary measure.

My foot has flared up due to the way I have been walking because of my knee but it's nothing too serious and things are progressing nicely again.

It's not nice having to sit things out and I'm having to be patient which I'm not normally very good at.

I want to be out there with the rest of the squad training and being involved in matches.

But, even when I'm back fit, it will be very hard to work my way back in to the squad with the way things are going at the moment.

WE lose Dave Scriven as the club's media manager this week and on behalf of all the lads I'd like to wish him all the best in his new role at QPR.

We're going to miss Scrivs' bad clothes and sideburns around the place and his unique talent of managing to miss the goals and the celebrations when taking his pictures!

At least that won't be a problem at QPR though, because they don't actually score many goals!

RAFA Benitez has taken over as the new manager of Chelsea but he seems to be detested by their fans after comments he made about their club in the past.

To me it seems to show a real lack of judgement and I do feel for Roberto Di Matteo who is an up and coming manager in the game.

In six months he won the Champions League and the FA Cup but just a few months later he's sacked with his team in the top four and not actually out of Europe.

It seems crazy to me and makes you wonder what chance other up and coming managers have in the game!
