MICHAEL Timlin feels reaching Wembley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy would be just as good as facing Chelsea in the FA Cup.

And the midfielder is keen to help Blues get even closer to playing at the home of English football with a win at Oxford United tonight.

Paul Sturrock’s side visit the U’s in the southern section area final of the competition and Timlin is desperate for a good result.

“There’s been a lot of excitement about the chance of playing Chelsea in the FA Cup if we beat Brentford next week but, for me, playing at Wembley would be just as good,” said Timlin.

“That makes tonight’s game hugely important because if we can win it then we’re only one round away from playing at Wembley.

“We’re not going to get the chance to play their too many times in our careers so we want to try and make the most of any opportunity that comes our way.

“I’m sure the fans would love to be able to watch us there too and we’re fired up to get a good result.”

Timlin is also desperate to enjoy a happier evening at the Kassam Stadium after being sent off there earlier on in the season.

The 27-year-old was shown two yellow cards inside the opening 27 minutes as Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat.

And he is looking to make amends tonight.

“I thought I let myself down, as well as my team-mates and the fans by getting sent off last time we went there and hopefully things will go better tonight,” said Timlin.

“One of the bookings was slightly harsh that night but I was silly to put myself in that position.

“I just hope this evening we can have a good night and get through to the area final.”
