SOUTHEND United’s Bilel Mohsni could be heading for another bust-up — but this time there will be no red card.

For the fiery Frenchman, who has been sent off five times in 73 games for Blues, is being lined up to take part in Ultimate Warrior Challenge’s next fight night at Garon Park in June.

And the 25-year-old is keen to step into the cage in Southend.

“If they ask me to fight then I will because I’m a good fighter and it’s something I enjoy,” said Mohsni.

“It was good when I went to train there a couple of seasons ago and I went to watch the fight night they had last weekend.

“It was very enjoyable and, depending on what’s happening with my football, I would like to be in the cage the next time they put an event on.”

Mohsni has only recently returned to Roots Hall after controversially staying away since a move to West Ham United fell through before the start of the season.

However, in a bid to protect his playing career, he would prefer to take part in a boxing bout and not a full mixed martial arts (MMA) contest.

“If I break my nose or my finger then I can carry on playing football and it’s not a problem,” said Mohsni.

“But if I break my foot, ankle or knee then I’m in trouble, so it would make more sense for me to box if I’m allowed.”

Former Blues’ chief executive Tara Brady, who is now also the principle owner of UWC, has opened discussions with Mohsni’s agent about a possible bout.

And Brady believes Mohsni could be a big hit in the sport.

“From direct personal experience I know Bilel is perfect for MMA because he has all the attributes you need,” said Brady.

“He’s athletic, aggressive and fast and, while he will obviously be concentrating on his football, this could be a good outlet for him during the close season.

“I also think it’s time for him, without any repercussions, to do what he was put on this earth for and that’s to fight.”
