SOUTHEND United have signed Jamar Loza on a one-month loan deal from Premier League side Norwich City.

The 19-year-old striker was part of the Canaries under-18 team that won the 2012/13 FA Youth Cup.

And boss Phil Brown is delighted to have brought the youngster to the club.

“I’m pleased to have Jamar with us, he’s a quick striker who has a real eye for goal,” said the Shrimpers chief.

“There has just been a bit of quality missing in the final third in recent weeks, but hopefully he can provide that.

“He’s a young lad who will be hoping to make a big impression and he’s highly regarded at Norwich.

“In the last two seasons we have seen Britt Assombalonga and Cauley Woodrow come on loan to the club and make an impact.

“Now we’re hoping Jamar can do exactly the same."

Loza has previously been on loan at Leyton Orient and Coventry City and has been selected among the substitutes for Blues’ clash at Bristol Rovers tonight.
