JACOB Murphy has joined Southend United on loan until the end of the season from Norwich City.

As was revealed in yesterday’s Echosport, the 19-year-old winger has signed until the end of the season and will go straight in to the squad for tomorrow’s game against Torquay United at Roots Hall.

Blues boss Phil Brown said: “Jacob’s got a lot of pace and belief.

“He’s got a smile on his face and I can’t wait to witness what he brings to the party.

“He can play left or right wing; he has good feet and an eye for goal.

“Norwich rate him really highly and I’m looking forward to utilising him, starting with what is another very important game against Torquay.

“We need to go out there and build on what was a very good result and performance against Oxford on Monday.”

Eighth placed Blues will be hopeful of seeing off bottom of the table Torquay in front of their own fans.

And striker Jamar Loza, who has made an impressive start to his own loan spell at Southend from Norwich, is looking forward to again teaming up Murphy.

“Jacob and I play really well together,”said Loza.

“A lot of my goals at Norwich come from him.

“We link up well and have good chemistry so hopefully we can do the same while we’re at Southend together.”
