WE have two league games left to go and there’s still plenty to play for in them.

Our place in the end of season play-offs is all but secured after our two good wins over the Easter weekend.

But we do still need a point to make a top-seven finish 100 per cent mathematically certain.

We won’t be going out to get a point because that’s not something I would ever encourage.

And I also want us to put a marker down for the play-offs in these two games we have left because they’re both against teams who have also been up towards the top of the table for most of the season.

Fleetwood, who we travel to on Saturday, and Burton have both had good seasons.

They have been there to be shot at for some time now and it’s important we keep our momentum going by picking up more good results.

After going 12 league games without a win, I’ve been delighted by how we responded to win five out of six.

But it’s serious business now and we need to keep this good form going.

I would again like to highlight our excellent defensive record, which is now the best in League Two, and that’s something we’re all very proud of.

We want to keep it that way now and make sure we also keep on doing the business at the other end of the field to secure a successful end to the season and what we all want, which is obviously promotion.

I'M SORRY FOR DAVID MOYES

I WAS very disappointed to see David Moyes being dismissed as the manager of Manchester United earlier this week.

We aren’t able to brag about having too many British coaches in charge of the big clubs and I would expect them to replace David with a foreign coach now.

I obviously spend some time in the north-west of the country and there has been an awful lot of negativity surrounding Manchester United this season.

I don’t think it’s helped that their main rivals Manchester City and Liverpool have been doing so well and that’s probably played a part in that mind-set.

It’s also big business these days and the share price of the club immediately went up when David’s departure was announced.

I heard on the radio it had raised them an additional £120 million and that’s just crazy.

It will be interesting to see who they get in next, but I’m sure the managerial merry-go-round is about to start once again.

IT SEEMS LIKE AGES AGO THAT RYAN CRESSWELL LEFT US

WE’RE up against our former defender Ryan Cresswell when we go to Fleetwood Town this weekend and it certainly does seem an awful long time ago that he left us now.

Before we got underway I was expecting Mark Phillips, Ryan Cresswell and Luke Prosser to be battling it out for the centre-back positions.

But I thought £150,000 for Ryan was a very good price and, without him, we’ve gone through a large number of defenders.

Rob Kiernan and Cian Bolger have come and gone, we’ve brought in Adam Thompson and now we also have John Egan and Jakub Sokolik on loan who have been brilliant since being thrown together.

We’ve also had Julian Bennett who was very unfortunate to get injured at the start of the season because I think he would’ve been another good signing for us.

He’s been having treatment at St George’s Park in Burton this week and I’m happy to report he’s making good progress again.

He won’t play again this season but he’s very close to getting back out there to train and put himself in a position to challenge for a contract renewal.
