FORMER Southend United defender Che Wilson has kicked off his role running the Players Football Association and Studio School football scholarship scheme.

Wilson, who made 128 during five seasons at Roots Hall, has teamed up with his ex-Shrimpers team-mate Adam Barrett who is is thrilled to have welcomed him to the Basildon based programme.

“Che is running the scholarship scheme we’ve started now and will be coaching the team, which is great news for us,” said Barrett. “He will also be teaching them in their lessons in the classroom and we’re really pleased to have him on board.

“I’m sure he will be a huge success.”
