PHIL Brown was left fearing the colour of his hair following Southend United’s 1-0 win at Cheltenham Town.

Connor Clifford’s second half strike secured all three points for the Shrimpers against the 10 man Robins.

But Brown felt Blues should have made it far easier for themselves at Whaddon Road.

“I don’t want to start having to use hair dye and more games like that will be turning me grey,” said Brown.

“We ended up working harder than we needed too because we didn’t take our changes but we were still able to collect the three points which was pleasing.

“Cheltenham’s endeavor also meant we had to work hard but I thought our two centre-backs were magnificent in dealing with what was thrown at them.”

Cheltenham were reduced to 10 men when Jason Taylor was dismissed for appearing to lash out at Conor Clifford when they both tangled on the floor.

And Brown felt it was the correct decision.

“From my position it looked like there was a movement of his arm and Conor, who certainly isn’t a soft boy, stayed down because of it,” said Brown.

“The referee was five yards away and made the right decision but I wasn’t so sure about some of his others ones!”
