BURY boss David Flitcroft claimed he went on to the pitch at the end of Saturday’s game in a bid to calm down Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin.
In a fairly heated end to the game, both sets of players seem to clash as they left the pitch.
But Flitcroft insisted he got involved to stop the situation getting any worse.
“I could see Timlin had the red mist so I tried to calm him down and I told him there was no point in getting sent off after a game,” said Flitcroft.
“Their staff then got involved and I think the players must have said something to each other instead of exchanging pleasantries.
“Football is competitive but, in truth, nothing really happened.
“My boys are passionate and so are Phil Brown’s so sometimes this kind of thing can happen.”
