SOUTHEND United striker Lee Barnard is to join Stevenage on a month long loan.

The 30-year-old has started two of Blues’ last three games.

But he has scored just once so far this season and manager Phil Brown is keen for him to rediscover his best form by spending the next four weeks with Graham Westley’s men.

“We’ve done all we can to try and get Lee back among the goals and we think spending the next month with Stevenage will help even further that,” said Brown.

“We’ve been able to bring in Elliot Lee to strengthen our own striking options even further.

“But this loan move is to get Lee match time and it most certainly is not the end of the road for him at Southend United.”

Barnard previously spent a month on loan with Stevenage back in 2004, scoring once in four appearances.
