SOUTHEND United striker Myles Weston will be swapping the Caribbean for Tranmere Rovers tomorrow.

Weston lined up for Antigua against both Haiti and Jamaica last weekend.

But he is now back with the Shrimpers and will be vying for selection at Prenton Park as Phil Brown’s side look to secure a third successive league win.

“Myles has returned fully fit and he trained with us yesterday for the first time since his international games with Antigua,” confirmed Southend’s assistant manager Dave Penney.

“He needs to get his head back on English time now and the English weather too!

“I’m sure he enjoyed the games he had and obviously scoring (against Haiti).

“But he’s back in with us and he’s fully focused on the weekend’s game.

“We also have Jakub Sokolik and Jerome Binnom-Williams back from suspension so there’s some tough decisions to be made.”

Weston was replaced by Jack Payne against Hartlepool United last weekend while Adam Thompson and Cian Bolger both lined up in defence.

They will be hoping to have done enough to keep their place in the side at Prenton Park, where Blues have triumphed just once in their last 11 visits.

And tomorrow’s clash will also see the Shrimpers coming up against their former midfielder Marc Laird.

“Lairdy did great for us,” said Penney.

“He’s a fit boy and he can play too if you let him.

“He’s a great kid and I’m delighted he got that move.

“He’s back near to his family and we look forward to seeing him again. “
