SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is already thinking of how best to replace Adam Thompson when the Shrimpers head to Wycombe Wanderers.

Thompson, who has filled in at right-back for Blues’ last three games, is suspended for the clash at Adams Park a week on Saturday after accumulating five yellow cards.

But Brown has a number of options to choose from.

“I have plenty to think about when it comes to who should replace Adam and I’m thinking about it already,” said the Shrimpers boss.

“The obvious option would be to put John White back in at right-back with Jerome Binnom-Williams returning on the left but John has done really well on the left hand side and I’ve been really happy with him there.

“But we also have the option of Ryan Leonard, who should have recovered from his groin injury by the time comes around.”

However, Brown is also considering playing Jakub Sokolik at right-back.

“Jakub started the season playing right-back for Yeovil and was pulling up trees there apparently,” said the Blues chief.

“It’s certainly something I’m thinking about and we will be having a look at one or two things in training before making up our minds.”

Sokolik has extended his loan spell from Yeovil Town until January.

But it has now been revealed that the Glovers have a 24 hour call back clause on the defender.
