SOUTHEND United striker Barry Corr is out to continue his fine scoring record, against his favourite opposition, Wycombe Wanderers, tomorrow.

Corr has bagged four goals in his last five games against the Chairboys, who currently top the League Two table.

And the Irishman will again be gunning for them at Adams Park this weekend.

“I don’t why it is but I always seem to do well against Wycombe and hopefully I can do the same tomorrow,” said Corr.

“I always feel as though I’m going to score when we play them and I even did well against them before signing for Southend as well.

“It’s one of my favourite grounds to play at because I have a good record there.

“But, as I always say, as long as we win the game, I’m not really too worried who scores the goals.”

However, Corr has scored more goals against Wycombe – and also Fleetwood Town – than other sides in the Football League during his career.

He hopes to add to the tally tomorrow and goes in to the game in good spirits having hit the back of the net three times in his last six games for the Shrimpers.

And he insists Blues are feeling fresh having gone a fortnight without a fixture.

“I think this little break we’ve had has done us good,” said Corr.

“There’s a lot of talk about having a winter break in our season and I can see the merits of that now.

“We’re fresh again and hopefully we can get the benefits of that this weekend and also during the second half of the season.”

Fifth placed Blues will be roared on by more than 1,000 travelling supporters and head in to the game on the back of four successive victories.

And Corr is again looking forward to linking up with Jack Payne in attack as the Shrimpers look to record another win.

“Jack is a very special talent,” said the 29-year-old striker.

“I think things are starting to click for us in attack now and Jack’s a big part of that.

“We all try to make sure we get him on the ball as often as we can and, if he does things the right way, then I really do think he will have a top career.

“David Worrall is also doing brilliantly and we’re all connecting well at the moment which we want to make sure continues.”
