SOUTHEND United striker Jason Williams has been recalled from his loan spell at Chelmsford City.

The youngster bagged six goals in eight games while with the Conference South side.

But Phil Brown has now brought Williams back to Roots Hall.

And he will go straight in to the squad for the Boxing Day clash at Cambridge United.

“We’ve decided to bring Jason back in because we felt as though we will need him during the busy Christmas period,” said Brown.

“We have one or two knocks and players who are injury doubts for the game at Cambridge so we’re going to be tested where that’s concerned.

“Jason has done well during his time at Chelmsford. It’s done him the power of good and he will be travelling with the squad to Cambridge.”

Blues have also called back young centre back Dan Matsuzaka from his loan spell at Ryman One North high-flyers Harlow Town.
