PHIL Brown felt Southend United’s 1-0 win at Cambridge showed his side are getting things right at both ends of the pitch.

Barry Corr’s second half header secured the Shrimpers all three points at the Abbey Stadium.

And Brown insisted Blues fully deserved the victory.

“I asked the players for the performance of the season and I think we played really well for the opening 45 minutes,” said Brown.

“I will always take 1-0 wins, as that shows that we were doing things right at both ends of the pitch.

“But we should have won this by more than just the one goal.”

Blues’ only effort was netted by Corr when he nodded home a right wing cross from David Worrall.

And Brown was full of praise for the Irishman.

“Barry Corr was excellent and I thought he was unplayable if I’m hon-est,” said the Blues boss.

“He played as a proper number nine but I also thought the two centre halves were outstanding too.”

That delighted the travelling Shrimpers support, of more than 1,200.

And Brown was thrilled to send them all home happy.

“The fans were excellent again and we thank them for that,” said the 55-year-old.

“There were 1,200 of our supporters again, which was fantastic and I feel as though this performance repays the results against both Luton Town and Wycombe Wanderers.”
