BLUES boss Phil Brown has been told he faces no further punishment after being sent to the stands at Oxford United on Saturday.

Brown was dismissed from the dug-out at the Kassam Stadium after fourth official Gavin Muge adjudged him to have made a gesture towards the home supporters.

But Brown, who strongly denied the accusations, will not be fined or banned from the touch-line.

“I’ve been told I won’t be facing any further punishment and the matter is now closed as far as I’m concerned,” said the Southend chief.

“I actually went to talk to the fourth official after the game. I was quite about the situation and told him he needed to have a look at himself in the cold light of day and how he had behaved.

“I’ve gone away and done the same but there’s no problem.

“I’m sure I will soon be involved in another game with the same fourth official and that’s fine.”
