SOUTHEND United left back Ben Coker has been shortlisted for the League Two player of the month award for January.

Coker helped Blues keep two clean sheets in five games during the first month of the new year and also created all three of his side’s goals in the 3-2 win at Oxford United.

Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Ingram, Luton Town midfielder Andy Drury and Tranmere Rovers striker Rory Donnelly have also been selected on the short-list.

The winner will be announced on Friday but Shrimpers boss Phil Brown has missed out on being nominated for manager of the month despite his side not being beaten in January.

Blues won three and drew two of their five games to pick up 11 points from a possible 15.

However, Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon and Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore have both been nominated despite their sides earning less points than Blues.

Burton Albion’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who shares an identical record with Brown, has also been named on the short-list along with Northampton Town’s Chris Wilder whose have earned more points in January than anyone else.
