SOUTHEND United's assistant manager Dave Penney believes Daniel Bentley is the best goalkeeper in the bottom two divisions.
Bentley secured his seventh home clean sheet in succession in Tuesday night's 2-0 win against Cheltenham Town.
And, despite the youngster being singled out for stick on Twitter following a rare mistake at Shrewsbury Town last weekend, Penney feels Blues are lucky to have Bentley to call on.
“Dan has been outstanding in the two years I have been here and you can count his mistakes on one finger,” said Pennye.
“Personally, I don’t understand why people go on Twitter and listen to people like that who probably haven’t got a clue what they are talking about.
“But, in my opinion Dan's the best goalkeeper in this league and probably the league above as well.
“People should look and see what they’ve got and be very grateful for what they have between the sticks.”
