BARRY Corr urged Southend United to try and remain positive following their 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers at Roots Hall on Saturday.

Corr bagged a brace against the Chairboys to take his tally to five goals in his last five games.

And the Irishman is keen for the Shrimpers to not dwell on the disappointment of conceding an 85th minute equaliser.

“It was obviously really hard to take and all of our heads were down in the changing room after the game but there is a lot of football still to be played,” stressed Corr.

“We should have won the game and we’re extremely disappointed we haven’t but we have to make sure we go and get the three points at Dagenham on Saturday now.

“Wycombe have got Shrewsbury on the same day so could well drop points.

“If we do the business then we could be two or three points behind them again with everything to play in the final 10 games of the season.

“And if we can keep on playing like this then we will definitely have a chance of catching them.”

Blues moved up to fourth in the table but remain five points behind Wycombe who are immediately above them in the League Two standings.

And Corr, who has now scored 11 times this season, is keen to play his part in closing that gap by continuing his fine run of form in front of goal.

“It’s pleasing to have got the goals in the last few weeks and I obviously want to keep that going,” said the 29-year-old.

“But the team picking up points and winning matches is what matters the most.

“We all want promotion and still believe we can get it, despite not winning this game like we all know we should’ve done.”
