SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown believes his side currently boast the two most in-form strikers in the whole of League Two.

Barry Corr has now bagged six goals in his last six games while Joe Pigott has netted six in his previous 11 outings.

And Brown hopes the duo can continue their fine form when they take on promotion rivals Burton Albion tonight.

“Our front two are now the two in form strikers in the division, without any shadow of doubt and we want that to continue,” said Brown.

“Barry has got something like nine in nine and Joe has six in 11 which is a real asset for us.

“I thought the pair of them were a constant thorn in Dagenham’s side on Saturday and hopefully they can be to Burton tonight as well.

“But with the likes of Jake Cassidy and Myles Weston on the bench putting pressure on them they also know they have to keep playing to stay in the side.”

However, Lee Barnard is currently unable to join them in pushing for a place in the starting line-up after suffering another injury setback.

Barnard has been sidelined with ankle and neck injuries since ending his loan spell with Stevenage at the end of December.

And the 30-year-old is now back on the treatment table.

“Lee’s really going through the mill at the moment,” confirmed Brown.

“He has a shoulder problem and a calf strain and it’s not looking too clever for him.

“However, he’s working hard behind the scenes and hopefully he will still have a part to play this season.”
