ADAM Thompson has undergone surgery on his dislocated shoulder.
The Shrimpers centre-back has been ruled out for up to six months with the injury he sustained against Mansfield Town on Good Friday.
But Blues’ assistant manager Dave Penney is backing Thompson to come back strongly from the setback.
“Adam had the operation today to sort the shoulder out so unfortunately he’s been written off for the season now,” said Penney.
“However, the rehab and medical side is first class at this football club and they will get him back as quickly as possible.”
Thompson had started 15 games out of 16 before picking up the injury.
And he also vowed to bounce back.
He tweeted: “Thanks for all the messages. Gutted to need an op but will be back stronger.”
Thompson later confirmed he had had the operation was feeling good.
