FANS from as far New York flew into Southend to attend the Shrimpers’ first ever day for their exiled supporters.

The group of fans, who follow Blues’ fortunes from afar, were in attendance for the 1-0 win against Tranmere Rovers last weekend.

And the club’s chief executive Steve Kavanagh was delighted to welcome them all to Roots Hall.

“It was the first time we have done something for the Exiles and given some fans travel huge distances it seemed a good way of recognising the lengths people go to to support the team,” said Kavanagh.

“We have fantastic away support and they clearly deserve credit but when you hear stories of people travelling from all over the world to see our home games it really shows what a great set of fans we have. “
