SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has revealed he wants play-off hero Joe Pigott back at the club next season.
Pigott fired home a dramatic injury time equaliser during extra time of the Shrimpers’ play-off success against Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley.
But Brown does not want that to be the striker’s last involvement with Blues.
“I’ve spoken to Joe, who is currently on holiday in Las Vegas, to thank him again for his efforts and I’ve told him that I want him to be with us again next season,” said the Blues boss.
“Whether or not that’s on loan or on a permanent deal I don’t mind but I’ve had that conversation with Joe and I’ve obviously also registered our interest with his parent club Charlton Athletic.
“Joe still has a year left on his contract there and will want to break through with them I’m sure but we will be doing all we can to bring him back here.”
Pigott joined Blues on loan in January and netted seven goals in 23 appearances.
