SOUTHEND United centre-back Adam Barrett has signed a year long contract to remain with the Shrimpers.
The popular 35-year-old ended last season in fine form by helping Blues win promotion via the League Two play-offs.
And Barrett, who grew up supporting Southend, is thrilled to be remaining at Roots Hall.
“I’m delighted to get this done and dusted so I know where I’m going to be next year,” said the defender.
“I had a bit of interest from elsewhere but this is the only place I wanted to be. This is home for me and I’m over the moon that everything has been sorted.
“Hopefully I can play a big part again next year too.”
