SOUTHEND United centre-back Luke Prosser is still being chased by a number of League Two clubs.

Blues have activated a year long clause in the defender’s contract.

But Shrimpers boss Phil Brown has revealed that has not put clubs off trying to sign him.

“There has been interest from three or four League Two clubs in Luke but we’ve activated the clause in his contract which means we have him for another year,” said Brown.

“As things stand I want Luke to stay with us too because left sided centre-backs are hard to find and I like the balance that gives a defence.

“However, Luke would ideally like a two year deal and we’ve given him a year so we will have to see how the season pans out.”

Prosser has made 148 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing in 2010 but he started just seven games in the final five months of last season.
