SOUTHEND United’s chief executive Steve Kavanagh believes the Shrimpers’ supporters remain key in continuing the club’s progress next season.

Phil Brown’s side will be lining up in League One when the new campaign gets underway in August.

And, with season cards now back on sale, Kavanagh is hoping fans will continue to back Blues in big numbers.

“Last season the fans played a huge part in promotion and they are key to the progress the club has made and is looking to make as well,” said Kavanagh.

“Season tickets represent the best value and we hope we have demonstrated we treat season card holders as such valued supporters with cup discounts and priorities.

“Building on the success of last season and the belief in the whole town is key to us all and I hope supporters look to come with us on this journey as one of those loyal supporters.”

Following the Shrimpers’ promotion, adult season cards now cost £395, compared to £350 last term, a rise of 13 per cent.

Season cards for senior and disabled supporters cost £250, students and young persons £235 while those under 16 will be charged £85 and those under eight just £23.

Family season cards for one adult and one child are available at £395.

And Kavanagh feels the new pricing structure is fair on supporters.

“We have reviewed other League One prices so we feel these prices are fair and also reward those who renewed early,” said Kavanagh.

“The adult season card works out to be £17 per game which is great value for League One and we hope we can now push on with sales and grow our underlying support.

“With that in mind we have tried to keep tickets affordable and have made initiatives such as zebra finance to help fans spread the costs throughout the season.”
