SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown believes Daniel Bentley will be disappointed if he is denied a move to Queens Park Rangers.
The Championship club have seen a trio of bids for the Shrimpers shot-stopper turned down and are now expected to instead sign Huddersfield Town’s Alex Smithies.
But Brown knows Bentley would have welcomed the chance to play at a higher level.
“I’m sure Daniel will be disappointed if QPR bring in another goalkeeper instead of him but it would be music to my ears if that happened,” said the Shrimpers chief.
“He’s a key part of what we’re trying to achieve here and I want him to stay.”
QPR’s highest bid of £1.25million was rejected by the Shrimpers on the eve of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Walsall at Roots Hall.
