SOUTHEND United’s move for Nottingham Forest winger Stephen McLaughlin has been put on hold.
Blues boss Phil Brown had been hopeful of bringing McLaughlin back to Roots Hall in time for him to figure against Swindon Town tomorrow.
But Brown’s time is now being taken up by trying to sign a defender to replace the injured Cian Bolger.
“The move for Stephen has been placed on hold a little bit but we’re still very keen,” said the 56-year-old.
“Two clubs in League Two are also keen on him but I think he will want to play higher and he already knows all about us too after the loan spell he had with us last season.”
McLaughlin ended the previous campaign on loan with Blues, scoring twice in nine games.
