SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown hopes to add another striker to his squad before the transfer window closes tonight.

Brown’s side have struggled for goals during the opening few fixtures of the League One season.

And the Blues boss is keen to rectify the situation by completing the signing of another forward today.

“I do hope to bring one more in before the transfer window closes,” said Brown.

“There’s no point me mentioning names or confirming transfer targets because there are three or four we’re talking to.

“We’re waiting to hear back on who is available and who isn’t but a move is impending and hopefully we’ll get something done.

“But if we don’t then we always have the option to bring someone in on loan when the window re-opens in another week’s time.”

Brown also confirmed that no bids had been placed for any of the club’s players, including highly rated goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
