SOUTHEND United’s under 21 team start their league campaign at Gillingham this afternoon.
But none of the Shrimpers’ first team will be lining up as over-age players.
“After the late trip back from Coventry I didn’t want to put any of the players in jeopardy by playing them in this game,” said Brown.
“There won’t be any over-age players for us and we’ll be going with all the youngsters.”
However, former AFC Wimbledon left-back Andre Blackman and ex Watford winger Harry Kyprianou could both line up as trialists.
