SOUTHEND United centre-back Adam Barrett wants the Shrimpers to rectify their Roots Hall form with a win against Peterborough United tomorrow.

The Blues have been beaten in all three of their home games this term without scoring a single goal.

And Barrett is keen for that to change this weekend.

“The away performances have been good but we haven’t started too well at home,” said the defender.

“We’ve always had a good home record when I’ve been here and we want that again now.

“Throughout the leagues home teams are struggling at the moment and I don’t know why that is.

“But when it’s rocking Roots Hall is a hard place to come.

“We want that again this year but that only way it happens is by winning games and that’s what we want tomorrow.”

The Shrimpers head into the game still looking for their first victory of the League One season.

But Barrett remains unconcerned by the results so far.

“It’s still very, very early days and there have been a lot of positives,” said the 35-year-old.

“The only bad performance has been against Walsall and we look solid and well organised.

“One win at this stage takes you up to mid-table and then everyone will be saying it’s been a good start after six games.

“Peterborough will be tough but if we can produce what we know we can then we can get the three points.”

Tomorrow’s clash will also be shown live on Sky Sports.

But Barrett believes that will make very little difference to the game.”

“You forget it’s even on TV to be honest,” said the defender.

“Some of the younger lads will be worried about their hair and fake tan but I haven’t got those problems.

“It’s good for the club to be in the spotlight and hopefully we can put on a good performance in front of the cameras.”
