JEROME Binnom-Williams is keen to prove a point when he faces Southend United tomorrow.

Binnom-Williams spent most of last season on loan with the Shrimpers but was not selected for the final 18 games of the campaign.

And the 20-year-old, who is now on loan with the Brewers from Crystal Palace, is determined to show what he is capable of when he faces Blues for the first time since his departure this weekend.

“There's definitely something to prove as I want to show them what I've got,” said Binnom-Williams.

“The last couple of months there weren’t too good for me as I didn't get too much game time so I've got to show them what they're missing.”

Binnom-Williams made 22 appearances while with the Shrimpers.

And the left-back believes Phil Brown’s side will be desperate to impress against the table-topping Brewers.

“Southend will want to prove a point coming up from League Two and this certainly won’t be an easy game for us,” said the defender.

“They're a good footballing side and play good football but when they have to go long, they go long.

“They'll have changed from last season but they're doing well.

“They got three points at Crewe on Tuesday night so they will be full of confidence coming here.”

Blues’ midweek victory moved them up to 10th in the League One table.

But Burton, who won League Two last term, have adjusted even quicker to life at a higher level.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side currently top the standings and Binnom-Williams is looking forward to what he believes will be an entertaining game.

“I think it’s going to be a good match,” said the left-back.

“It will be good to see everyone at Southend again too because I had a good time there.

“I got 22 appearances under my belt and got on with the players and manager.

“I learned a lot and found out it was a lot different playing men's football to playing with the under-21s at Palace.

“You had to kick it and get stuck in and it brought out that side of me.

“The set-up was good with a former Premier League manager in Phil Brown and the boys welcomed me in well so I’m looking forward to catching up with them all again.”
