SOUTHEND United left-back Ben Coker revealed his hatred of playing at Burton Albion following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against the Brewers.

Blues have now been beaten on their last three visits to the Pirelli Stadium.

And Coker, the Shrimpers’ best performer on the day, is sick of suffering setbacks against the League One leaders.

“I actually hate coming here because we never seem to win,” said the defender.

“It was a very disappointing result but I thought we played some good stuff in the first half.

“The goal was disappointing timing just after half-time and how it went in as well.

“But we have to pick ourselves up and go again now.”

The Shrimpers were sunk by a 51st minute own goal from centre-back Luke Prosser.

However, Coker is sure his team-mate will bounce back strongly from the setback.

“Luke tried to clear it and it’s come off his leg,” said the 25-year-old.

“It’s not gone the way he wanted but since he’s come in he’s been doing really well for us.

“It’s one of those things but he’ll certainly bounce back from this and we all need to do the same.”

The Shrimpers had triumphed in their previous three games before Saturday’s setback.

But the closeness of the contest against Burton again convinced Coker that Blues have what it takes to match the top teams in League One.

“We know we can mix it with the best teams in this league,” said the left-back.

“We have belief in the camp but we just need that bit of experience to finish off teams.

“When we get the chances we need to take them but today wasn’t our day.

“I’m sure we will have a look at why it wasn’t but we have what I think will be an exciting game at Crawley on Tuesday night now and we’ll focus on making sure we win that one.”
