SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Ted Smith lined up between the sticks as England’s under 20 team beat Turkey 2-1 in the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup in Germany.
Smith, who is a former King John School pupil, had been on the bench for England’s first game – a 3-1 win against Holland.
But he was included in the starting line-up on Saturday as England recorded another victory.
The Three Lions will round off the tournament on Tuesday afternoon, when they face hosts Germany in Heidenheim.
