SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown remains in transfer talks with Norwich City striker Jamar Loza.
Brown is keen to bring the 21-year-old back to Roots Hall for a second spell.
But he is only willing to offer the forward a contract until the end of the season.
“We’re still in talks with Jamar but I’m not willing to go beyond offering him a short term contract,” said Brown.
“I’ve said we will take over his current contract until the end of the season and include clauses which will see him rewarded with another year or two if he proves himself during that time.
“That’s what’s being spoken about at the moment and there are still a few loose ends to tie up but hopefully we’ll get something done because he would bring us real pace in the final third.”
Loza, who is also wanted by Port Vale, spent time on loan with Blues in 2014, scoring once in seven appearances.
