PHIL Brown has reiterated his commitment to Southend United, amid rumoured interest from Rotherham.

The Championship strugglers were believed to have been tracking the 56-year-old Blues boss following the dismissal of Neil Redfearn.

But, despite not wanting to name the club in question, Brown did confirm there had been interest in him from elsewhere in the past few days.

However, he is keen to stay with Shrimpers and continue the club’s push for promotion.

“There has been a bit of interest in me and a club has been sniffing round but my whole focus is on Southend and continuing the good run we’re on,” said Brown.

“No direct approach has been made to me but I always take interest in me or one of the players as a good sign because it means we must be doing something right.

“When there isn’t any speculation or interest then it’s probably more concerning because it means you aren’t doing very well.

“But we’ve got ourselves into a good position in the table and we want to push on now and try to make it back to back promotions.”

Blues have triumphed in their last three games and currently sit seventh in the League One standings, just outside the play-off positions.

But Brown, who has been in charge of Blues since March 2013, insists he is not looking to leave.

“I do have a buy-out clause in my contract here but that’s fairly normal these days,” said the Shrimpers chief.

“I’m happy here and I’m looking forward to the game at Scunthorpe this weekend."
