SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has turned to technology in a bid quicken his side’s progress.

The Shrimpers players will be wearing GPS style monitoring equipment during their five remaining matches of the League One season.

And Brown believes it will be of huge benefit.

“We tried it out against Fleetwood with three of the players and it was a huge success so everyone will be wearing it now,” said the Blues boss.

“That will start against Walsall at the weekend and it’s similar to how the top clubs use Pro Zone.

“We can look at how far the players run and where they’re running too so it will help us get far more knowledge on them.

“It will also help us to tailor their needs during pre-season training.”
