SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown could revert back to his original main strike-force for the final two games of the season.

Summer signings David Mooney and Noel Hunt are both now back in full training.

And Brown hinted at them both returning to the starting line-up for Saturday’s clash with Bradford City.

“David and Noel were originally my main strike-force for the season and it could well be time to give them another go,” said the Shrimpers boss.

“The only slight glimmer of hope from last Saturday’s game at Wigan was that we got a surprise 50 or 60 minutes from David and he suffered no reaction to that at all.

“Noel has also trained fully this week, so he’s ready to go back in, and I’m really thinking about recalling them both for the Bradford game.”

Mooney and Hunt have scored seven goals between them in the eight games they have started together this term.

However, they have both been plagued by injuries in recent weeks.

Mooney’s substitute appearance at Wigan ended almost two months on the sidelines with an ankle injury he sustained in training, while Hunt has struggled to stay fit all season.

The former Ipswich Town man has managed just 14 starts so far this term.

But he will still be keen to impress the remaining two matches of the season as Blues have yet to decide whether or not to exercise the clause in his contract which will see him staying at Roots Hall for a further year.
