FRANCK Moussa is unsure whether or not he will be staying with Southend United next season.

The midfielder scored on his first game back for Blues in yesterday’s 3-2 defeat at Bury.

But the Belgian does not know if he will be following that up with further appearances and is instead focusing on regaining full fitness after enduring an injury hit campaign.

“It’s not up to me what happens next, I just want to get fit so whoever wants to take me can do exactly that,” said Moussa, who came through the youth system with the Shrimpers.

“I’ve had a lot of breaks this season because of injuries so I’m not tired or in need of a break.

“I’ll have a programme in the summer to get fit to get going again next season.

“If the manager here wants me then it’s up to him to put an offer to me.

“But I just have to make sure I’m ready so I can perform right away for whoever.”

Moussa scored eight goals in 102 appearances during his first spell with Blues which ended in 2010.

And he was delighted to start his second period with the Shrimpers by rifling home a well taken left footed shot.

“It was a good experience to put the shirt on and to play in front of the fans again,” said Moussa.

For me to score a goal on my second debut was great and I was very happy.

“The fans chanted my name when I scored like they used to and they’re very welcoming towards me.”

But Moussa was ultimately left feeling frustrated at the final whistle as Bury fought back to secure a 3-2 victory as Ryan Lowe bagged a last gasp penalty after Sam McQueen was adjudged to have handled the ball.

“The ball hit Sam but there’s no way he could have meant it and it killed it for us really,” said Moussa.

“But it’s up to the referee really and it’s his decision to make.”

However, despite the disappointment, Moussa hoped to have shown enough to suggest he was capable of performing in at least League One again next season.

“I’ve been around for a month or so asking for a chance to play, “said Moussa.

“I wanted to show I could play and do well at this level and hopefully I’ve done that.”
