ADAM Barrett’s popular Players Football Academy is branching out to another new venue.

The Southend United defender has coached at Thundersley’s Cedar Hall School since first opening his academy close to three years ago.

But he will now also be holding sessions at the Len Forge Centre in Eastwood.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to sort out another excellent facility,” said Barrett.

“The popularity of the academy has been fantastic and we’re growing all the time.

“Because of that we’ve had a waiting list of youngsters wanting to come along so we’ve looked at getting another venue so we can get them involved too.”

The first coaching session at the Len Forge Centre will take place on Wednesday, May 18, starting at 5pm.

The hour-long training session is open for under-nine, under-10 and under-11 players and will cost £6 per child.

But it is not just the youngsters Barrett is working with, as he will soon be also starting a walking football programme for those aged over 50.

That will also kick-off on Wednesday, May 18, but will be held at Clements Hall sports centre in Hawkwell at 11am.

“Walking football is increasing in popularity all the time so we’re keen to get involved in it as well,” said Barrett.”

“We will be holding weekly coaching sessions and hope to see as many people coming along as possible.

“I’m quite keen to try it out myself as well to be honest!”

Barrett will also be holding his first ever soccer school this summer.

The course is open for anyone aged between five and 11 and will start on Tuesday, May 31, before finishing on Friday, June 3, at the Len Forge Centre.

Prices have been set at £15 per day or £50 for all four days, with competitions and prizes to be won, however, only limited spaces still remain.
