KEVAN Hurst has left Southend United.

The 30-year-old winger, who had been with Blues since 2012, has not been offered a new deal to remain at Roots Hall.

But Hurst was keen to thank the club’s fans following his departure.

He tweeted: After an amazing four years, my time at Southend has come to an end. I've met some incredible people who will be friends for life.

"I want to thank all the fans whose amazing support over the years has been fantastic and is only steering the club in one direction.

"I also want to thank all the staff, not just the management and coaching staff but the people behind the scenes who keep the club ticking.

"I wish Southend all the success in the world and can honestly say that I love the club.

"Thank you for the memories.”

Hurst scored 19 goals in 151 games for Blues but started just 11 games last season.
