NOEL Hunt could yet be staying at Southend United.

The striker has been announced as one of six players to have left the Shrimpers.

But Blues boss Phil Brown revealed to Echosport that he still remains in talks with the Irishman.

“We’re in negotiations with Noel but because of the way it works and the kind of deal we’re offering him he has to go on the list we’re required to put out by a certain time,” said Brown.

“We’re offering him a deal which is more in favour of the club than the player and is linked to him playing regularly.

“He struggled with injuries last season but he’s an experienced striker and if he can stay fit then he will definitely score goals at this level.”

Hunt joined Blues at the start of last season but was restricted to just 14 starts after being struck by a succession of injuries.

The 33-year-old netted four goals and must now decide whether or not to accept the new deal.
