SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is interested in bringing Glen Rea back to Roots Hall.
The centre-back, who can also play in midfield, spent five months on loan with the Shrimpers last season.
And he will meet with Brown today to discuss a return.
“Glen Rea is certainly somebody I’m interested in, and I’m meeting with him and his agent for talks today,” confirmed Brown.
“When he was here on loan I thought he was unlucky.
“He had international call ups and a couple of injuries which got in the way and stopped him having a real run of games.
“But he’s someone I really rate.
“He wants to play at centre-back and that’s an area we need to strengthen so hopefully we can get something sorted.”
Rea, who is available on a free transfer after being released by Brighton & Hove Albion, made 16 appearances while with Blues.
