SOUTHEND United are in talks to sign an experienced goalkeeper, Echosports understands.
Blues have met the shot-stopper, who featured in League One last season, for talks.
And they remain confident of being able to complete a deal.
Shrimpers boss Phil Brown had previously revealed he was keen on signing a new goalkeeper with current first choice custodian Daniel Bentley destined to depart this summer.
Brentford, Burnley and Bournemouth remain among the front-runners for Bentley but Brown is now closing in on his replacement.
The Blues chief has opted against publicly naming his targets this summer but is keen to start bolstering his squad.
A goalkeeper remains high on the list on priorities but the new signing will have to battle with England under-20 goalkeeper Ted Smith for the number one slot between the sticks.
