SOUTHEND United are keen on bringing Southampton youngster Sam McQueen back to the club on a season long loan.
McQueen, who can play out wide or through the middle in attack, spent five months on loan with the Shrimpers last season.
And Blues boss Phil Brown would love to see the 21-year-old return to Roots Hall.
“We’ve registered or interest in Sam and would definitely like to have him back with us on loan again next season,” confirmed Brown.
“I think Sam is a very talented young player who would certainly add something different to our squad.
“I understand he’s been playing really well during pre-season and has caught the during Southampton’s tour of America.
“I’m not sure he’s going to be involved with their first team though so we’re hoping that we will be able to get something out.”
McQueen, who came through the youth system at Southampton, joined the Shrimpers on loan last January and scored on his first start in a 3-0 win against local rivals Colchester United at Roots Hall.
McQueen was also on target in a 3-1 defeat at Port Vale and made four starts and 14 substitute appearances while with Blues.
