SOUTHEND United could be about to replace Jack Payne with Jack Payne!
The Shrimpers are currently having a look at the Peterborough United midfielder who shares the same name as the attacking youngster who left the Shrimpers to join Huddersfield Town at the end of the season.
And Blues boss Phil Brown will be carefully monitoring the 24-year-old in the next few days.
“We’re having a look at Jack Payne to replace Jack Payne which is quite ironic I guess,” said Brown.
“We were alerted to him after I got a phone call from Peterborough to say his services were no longer required because of certain situations.
“They’ve brought in players and he’s had a fall out with the management team and hierarchy.
“This is a player I think they paid around £600,000 for less than two years ago so we’re going to be having a look at him.”
